Acupuncture for Infertility

Dr (TCM) Attilio D'Alberto specialises in treating infertility and is a member of the British Fertility Society.

Infertility

Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are becoming more and more popular in Europe and the USA for treating ferility problems. It's success is no wonder why the Chinese are the largest nation on earth. Many women see me with recognised conditions that can cause infertility, for example:

  • Blocked fallopian tubes
  • Endometriosis
  • Fibroids
  • High FSH levels
  • Increase NK cell count
  • Recurrent miscarriage
  • Polycystic ovaries
  • Premature ovarian failure

However, a great majority of woman over 35 come and see me with the diagnosis of 'unexplained infertility'. This is distresting to many woman as it's a vague diagnosis that labels woman with infertility and doesn't offer any plauible solution to the problem.

Acupuncture helps to regulate energy and blood flow, which in turn helps to regulate hormone function. This helps to regulate the menstrual cycle for a natural pregnancy or in all forms of assisted fertility, including IUI, IVF, FET, ICSI, etc.

Chinese herbal medicine is considered more powerful in China and is used to enhance ferility by building up a woman's health and reducing the risks of a miscarriage.

Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine helps to optimise all aspects of fertility to increase life birth rates:

  • Regulating hormone levels – oestrogen, FSH and progesterone, LH to produce a regular 28-30 day menstrual cycle
  • To reduce premenstrual symptoms such as cramps, lower back pain, tiredness, tender breasts, PMT, which are all considered to show problems in a woman's menstrual cycle and therefore her fertility
  • To enhance the actual period, increasing blood quantity and flow, reduce clots and produce bright red blood
  • To regulate and increase the cervical mucus produced mid cycle, allowing the sperm to travel up into the cervix
  • To improve the matruation of the follicle and it's successful release during ovulation
  • To ensure a good LH surge after ovulation and it's substained elevation
  • To ensure a good amount of blood flow to the endometrial lining, thereby enhancing implantation
  • To reduce the risks of a threatened miscarriage once implanation has been achieved

Male Infertility

Acupuncture for Male Infertility

Male sperm problems are becoming an increasing common factor in fertility cases. Common problems usually include problem's with the sperm's mobility

25% of infertility is calculated to be directly due to the male partner and another 15 to 25% probably also has a male contribution.

In such cases, Dr (TCM) D'Alberto recommends Chinese herbal medicine rather than acupuncture. Usually, a course of treatment lasting 3 months can help increase mobility and morphology rates.
