Acupuncture for bell's palsy
Bell's Palsy occurs around 1 in 5,000 people. Bell's palsy is due to an inflammation of the facial nerve in the internal auditory canal. Onset is sudden and progresses quickly.
Symptoms include one sided facial paralysis, unable to blink and a dropped mouth.
Treatment for Bell's Palsy
Research has shown that acupuncture is as effective as corticosteroids and may improve recovery in patients with Bell's palsy, either used alone or in combination with drug treatment.
