1. Overview
BL 38 — Fú Xī (浮郄) — is an acupuncture point on the Bladder meridian. Its English name, Floating Cleft, reflects the point’s classical character and location. It is used in acupuncture practice as part of channel-balancing prescriptions for a range of conditions.

2. Location
On the back of the knee, 1 cun superior to BL-39 Weiyang, on the medial side of the tendon of the biceps femoris. Note: locate with the knee slightly flexed.

4. Indications
- Numbness of the buttock
- Contraction of the sinews of the popliteal fossa
- Contraction and pain of the outer thigh
- Sudden turmoil disorder with cramps
- Constipation
- Knotting of the Large Intestine
- Hot urination
- Acute gastroenteritis
- Cystitis
5. Needling
Perpendicular insertion, 1 to 1.5 cun.
Important: Acupuncture should only be performed by a fully qualified practitioner. Never attempt self-needling. All needles I use are sterile, single-use and disposed of immediately after treatment in a clinical sharps container.
