1. Overview
BL 55 — Hé Yáng (合阳) — is an acupuncture point on the Bladder meridian. Its English name, Confluence of Yang, reflects the point’s classical character and location. It is used in acupuncture practice as part of channel-balancing prescriptions for a range of conditions.

2. Location
2 cun directly below BL-40 Weizhong, between the medial and lateral heads of the gastrocnemius muscle, on the line joining BL-40 Weizhong and BL-57 Chengshan. Note: first locate BL-57 Chengshan, then locate BL-55 Heyang at one fourth the distance between BL-40 Weizhong and BL-57 Chengshan.

4. Indications
- Low back pain
- Pain and paralysis of the lower extremities
- Heaviness and muscular spasms in the knee and calf
- Heat sensation of the inner thigh

- Menorrhagia
5. Needling
Puncture perpendicularly 0.7 to 1 cun.
Important: Acupuncture should only be performed by a fully qualified practitioner. Never attempt self-needling. All needles I use are sterile, single-use and disposed of immediately after treatment in a clinical sharps container.
