Èr Bái (二白) — Two Whites
On this page
1. Overview
Èr Bái (二白) — Two Whites — is an extra acupuncture point (not on any of the fourteen main channels). It is used as an adjunct to channel-based prescriptions in acupuncture practice for the indications below.
I am Dr (TCM) Attilio D’Alberto, a member of the British Acupuncture Council with over 25 years of clinical experience. I use this point as part of individually tailored acupuncture prescriptions at my clinic in Wokingham, Berkshire.
2. Location
On the palmar aspect of the forearm, 4 cun proximal to the transverse wrist crease, in two locations either side of the tendon of flexor carpi radialis. Two points per side (medial and lateral to the tendon).
3. Actions
- Regulates and lifts Qi in the anus
- Cools blood and stops bleeding
4. Indications
- Haemorrhoids
- Rectal prolapse
- Anal bleeding
- Chronic constipation with straining
5. Needling
Perpendicular 0.5–1 cun.
Important: Acupuncture should only be performed by a fully qualified practitioner. Never attempt self-needling. All needles I use are sterile, single-use and disposed of immediately after treatment in a clinical sharps container.
6. Clinical notes
One of the most-used empirical points for haemorrhoids in the Chinese acupuncture tradition, both for symptomatic bleeding and as part of a wider prolapse-lifting protocol combined with GV 20 and BL 57.
7. Treatment at my clinic
I use Èr Bái as part of tailored acupuncture prescriptions for conditions including Haemorrhoids and anal disorders. Each treatment is individually designed following a full TCM assessment.
