1. Overview

Ěr Jiān (耳尖) is a classical extra (non-channel) acupuncture pointEar Apex. It is used in acupuncture practice as part of channel-balancing prescriptions for a range of conditions.

I am Dr (TCM) Attilio D’Alberto, a member of the British Acupuncture Council with over 25 years of clinical experience. I use Ěr Jiān as part of individually tailored acupuncture prescriptions at my clinic in Wokingham, Berkshire.

2. Location

At the apex of the ear. Note: Fold the auricle, the point is at the apex of the fold.

3. Actions

  2. Dissipates swelling
  3. Benefits the eyes and throat

4. Indications

  1. Redness, swelling and pain of the eyes
  2. Superficial visual obstruction
  3. Nebula
  4. One-sided headache
  5. Pain and swelling of the throat
  6. Mumps
  7. High fever

5. Needling

Perpendicular insertion 0.1 cun.

Important: Acupuncture should only be performed by a fully qualified practitioner. Never attempt self-needling. All needles I use are sterile, single-use and disposed of immediately after treatment in a clinical sharps container.

6. Clinical notes

Ěr Jiān (Ear Apex) is used as part of channel-balancing prescriptions tailored to the patient’s individual TCM diagnosis.

7. Treatment at my clinic

I use Ěr Jiān as part of tailored acupuncture prescriptions for conditions including Headache. Each treatment is individually designed following a full TCM assessment.
