On this page
1. Overview
GV 25 — Sù Liáo (素髎) — is an acupuncture point on the Governing Vessel (Du Mai) meridian. Its English name, White Bone Hole, reflects the point’s classical character and location. It is used regularly in acupuncture practice for a range of conditions.
I am Dr (TCM) Attilio D’Alberto, a member of the British Acupuncture Council with over 25 years of clinical experience, practising at my clinic in Wokingham, Berkshire.

5. Needling
Oblique insertion 0.3–0.5 cun upward, or prick to bleed.
Important: Acupuncture should only be performed by a fully qualified practitioner. All needles I use are sterile, single-use and disposed of in a clinical sharps container immediately after treatment.
6. Clinical notes
GV 25 is the most distal point on the Du Mai at the tip of the nose. Like GV 26, it is used for resuscitation in collapse and shock. Pricking to bleed at GV 25 is a classical technique for restoring consciousness. It also has a strong local action opening the nasal passages and is used for rhinitis and nasal congestion.
7. Treatment at my clinic
I use GV 25 as part of tailored acupuncture prescriptions for conditions including Allergies. Each treatment is individually designed following a full TCM assessment.
