1. Overview
HT 8 — Shào Fǔ (少府) — is an acupuncture point on the Heart meridian. Its English name, Lesser Mansion, reflects the point’s classical character and location. It is used regularly in acupuncture practice for a range of conditions.

2. Location
On the palm, between the 4th and 5th metacarpal bones, where the tip of the little finger rests when a fist is made.
3. Actions
- Ying-Spring point of the Heart — clears Heart Fire

- Benefits urination via the Heart-Small Intestine axis
4. Indications
- Anxiety, palpitations and restlessness from Heart Fire
- Insomnia from Heart Fire
- Genital pain and itching via Heart channel
- Urinary difficulty and burning from Heart Fire transmitting to the Small Intestine
- Chest pain
5. Needling
Perpendicular insertion 0.3–0.5 cun.
Important: Acupuncture should only be performed by a fully qualified practitioner. All needles I use are sterile, single-use and disposed of in a clinical sharps container immediately after treatment.
6. Clinical notes
HT 8 is the Ying-Spring and Fire point of the Heart — the Fire point on the Fire meridian, giving it exceptional Heat-clearing properties. It is the primary point when Heart Fire is the dominant pattern. Combined with SP 6 and KD 3 for yin deficiency with Heart Fire; combined with PC 8 (Laogong) for extreme Heart and Pericardium Fire patterns.
