1. Overview
SP 16 — Fù Āi (腹哀) — is an acupuncture point on the Spleen meridian. Its English name, Abdomen's Sorrow, reflects the point’s classical character and location. It is used in acupuncture practice as part of channel-balancing prescriptions for a range of conditions.

3 cun above the center of the umbilicus and 4 cun lateral to the anterior midline.

5. Needling
Perpendicular insertion 0.5 to 1 cun. Caution: 1. In thin patients, deep needling may penetrate the peritoneal cavity. 2. Deep needling may penetrate an enlarged Spleen.
Important: Acupuncture should only be performed by a fully qualified practitioner. Never attempt self-needling. All needles I use are sterile, single-use and disposed of immediately after treatment in a clinical sharps container.
