6. Clinical notes
SP 8 is the Xi-Cleft point of the Spleen, used for acute and painful conditions. It is the primary point for acute, severe dysmenorrhoea and one of the most dramatically effective points for emergency treatment of painful periods. Combined with SP 6 and CV 4 it forms a powerful prescription for acute dysmenorrhoea. Electroacupuncture at SP 8 and BL 32 has documented evidence for endometriosis pelvic pain.
7. Treatment at my clinic
I use SP 8 as part of tailored acupuncture prescriptions for conditions including Endometriosis, Irregular menstrual cycle. Each treatment is individually designed following a full TCM assessment.
