1. Overview
ST 34 — Liáng Qiū (梁丘) — is an acupuncture point on the Stomach meridian. Its English name, Beam Hill, reflects the point’s classical character and location. It is used regularly in acupuncture practice for a range of conditions.

2. Location
On the anterior thigh, 2 cun above the lateral border of the patella between rectus femoris and vastus lateralis.
3. Actions
- Xi-Cleft point of the Stomach — treats acute Stomach disorders
- Activates the meridian and relieves acute knee pain
- Regulates the Stomach and stops pain
4. Indications
- Acute epigastric pain and gastritis — Xi-Cleft point used for acute conditions
- Nausea and vomiting from acute Stomach disorder
- Knee pain — important anterior local point
- Mastitis
5. Needling
Perpendicular insertion 0.8–1.2 cun.
Important: Acupuncture should only be performed by a fully qualified practitioner. All needles I use are sterile, single-use and disposed of in a clinical sharps container immediately after treatment.
6. Clinical notes
ST 34 is the Xi-Cleft point of the Stomach meridian. Xi-Cleft points are where Qi and Blood gather deeply in the channel and are used for acute and painful conditions. ST 34 is the primary point for acute Stomach pain and gastritis. As a local knee point it specifically addresses anterior knee pain and patellofemoral conditions alongside ST 35 (Dubi).
