Overview

Tuo Li Xiao Du Yin — the “Discharge Pus and Eliminate Toxin Drink” — is a classical formula for the middle stage of skin abscess where the patient has insufficient Qi-Blood to either fully resolve the infection (early stage) or to heal a discharging ulcer (late stage). The formula tonifies Qi and Blood while continuing to clear toxin, supporting the body to either resolve the abscess or to drain it properly and then heal.

Tuo Li Xiao Du Yin is prescribed for middle-stage abscess with Qi-Blood deficiency:

• Persistent skin abscess that fails to mature or to heal
• Slow-healing surgical or traumatic wounds
• Chronic, indolent, low-grade infection
• Pale or dull complexion
• Fatigue, weakness
• Tongue — pale, possibly with thin coat
• Pulse — thin, weak
