1. Overview
CV 24 — Chéng Jiāng (承浆) — also known as Ren 24, is the final point on the Conception Vessel (Ren Mai) and a meeting point with the Stomach and Large Intestine meridians. It is widely used in acupuncture for facial paralysis affecting the lower face and for diseases of the mouth and lower teeth.

2. Location
In the depression in the centre of the mentolabial groove (between the lower lip and the chin).
3. Actions
- Eliminates Wind from the face
- Benefits the mouth, lips and teeth
- Promotes fluids and treats excessive thirst
4. Indications
- Bell’s palsy with drooping of the lower lip
- Drooling and dribbling from facial weakness or stroke
- Mouth ulcers and gingivitis of the lower jaw
- Toothache of the lower teeth
- Swelling and stiffness of the lower jaw
- Excessive thirst and dry mouth (diabetic xerostomia)
- Trigeminal neuralgia in the mandibular branch
5. Needling
Oblique insertion upward toward the lower lip 0.2–0.3 cun.
6. Clinical notes
CV 24 is the standard counterpart to GV 26 (Renzhong) on the upper lip. The two together form a vertical line that addresses the entire mouth region. For Bell’s palsy I pair CV 24 with ST 4, ST 6 and LI 4. For recurrent mouth ulcers I combine it with HT 8 and SP 6.
