1. Overview

GV 10Líng Tái (灵台) — is an acupuncture point on the Governing Vessel (Du Mai). Its English name, Spirit Tower, reflects the point’s classical character and location. It is used in acupuncture practice as part of channel-balancing prescriptions for a range of conditions.

I am Dr (TCM) Attilio D’Alberto, a member of the British Acupuncture Council with over 25 years of clinical experience. I use GV 10 as part of individually tailored acupuncture prescriptions at my clinic in Wokingham, Berkshire.

2. Location

Located between the spinous processes of the sixth and seventh vertebrae.

3. Actions

4. Indications

  1. Asthma

5. Needling

Slanted insertion, pointed slightly upward, 0.5 to 1 cun. Sensation: distention and soreness sometimes extending to the lower back or chest.

Important: Acupuncture should only be performed by a fully qualified practitioner. Never attempt self-needling. All needles I use are sterile, single-use and disposed of immediately after treatment in a clinical sharps container.

6. Clinical notes

GV 10 Líng Tái (Spirit Tower) is used as part of channel-balancing prescriptions tailored to the patient’s individual TCM diagnosis.

I use GV 10 as part of tailored acupuncture prescriptions for conditions including Asthma, Back pain, Cough. Each treatment is individually designed following a full TCM assessment.
