On this page
1. Overview
Jīn Jīn (金津) — Golden Fluid — is an extra acupuncture point (not on any of the fourteen main channels). It is used as an adjunct to channel-based prescriptions in acupuncture practice for the indications below.
I am Dr (TCM) Attilio D’Alberto, a member of the British Acupuncture Council with over 25 years of clinical experience. I use this point as part of individually tailored acupuncture prescriptions at my clinic in Wokingham, Berkshire.
2. Location
On the left underside of the tongue, on the sublingual vein, at the base of the tongue.
3. Actions
- Clears Heat
- Generates fluids
- Reduces swelling
4. Indications
- Aphasia after stroke
- Tongue swelling
- Mouth ulcers
- Thrush and stomatitis
- Excessive salivation or dry mouth
5. Needling
Prick to bleed with a three-edged needle. Not usually retained.
Important: Acupuncture should only be performed by a fully qualified practitioner. Never attempt self-needling. All needles I use are sterile, single-use and disposed of immediately after treatment in a clinical sharps container.
6. Clinical notes
Paired with Yu Ye on the right side. Classical points for stroke-related aphasia, tongue disorders and severe Heart-Fire-related mouth pathology. Bleeding technique only.
7. Treatment at my clinic
I use Jīn Jīn as part of tailored acupuncture prescriptions for conditions including Stroke recovery. Each treatment is individually designed following a full TCM assessment.
