1. Overview
LU 8 — Jīng Qú (经渠) — is an acupuncture point on the Lung meridian. Its English name, Channel Gutter, reflects the point’s classical character and location. It is used in acupuncture practice as part of channel-balancing prescriptions for a range of conditions.

2. Location
1 cun above the transverse crease of the wrist in the depression on the lateral side of the radial artery.
3. Actions
- Descends Lung Qi
- Alleviates cough and wheezing
4. Indications
- Palms hot and dry or hot and moist
- Sudden cardiac pain
- Intermittent fever
- Excessive Phlegm
- All Lung and throat conditions
- Intermittent fever and chills.
- Stiffness of the back and chest
- Fullness sensation in the chest
- Chest pain with vomiting
5. Needling
Puncture perpendicularly 0.1 to 0.3 cun.
Important: Acupuncture should only be performed by a fully qualified practitioner. Never attempt self-needling. All needles I use are sterile, single-use and disposed of immediately after treatment in a clinical sharps container.
6. Clinical notes
LU 8 Jīng Qú (Channel Gutter) is classified as: Jing-River point; Metal point; Horary point. These classifications inform how the point is used in clinical practice. The point is typically combined with other channel points to form a balanced prescription based on the patient’s individual TCM diagnosis.
