1. Overview
ST 15 — Wū Yì (屋翳) — is an acupuncture point on the Stomach meridian. Its English name, Room Screen, reflects the point’s classical character and location. It is used in acupuncture practice as part of channel-balancing prescriptions for a range of conditions.
I am Dr (TCM) Attilio D’Alberto, a member of the British Acupuncture Council with over 25 years of clinical experience. I use ST 15 as part of individually tailored acupuncture prescriptions at my clinic in Wokingham, Berkshire.
2. Location
On the chest, in the second intercostal space, 4 cun lateral the the midline, on the mamillary line. Note:First locate the costal cartilage of the second rib which is level with the sternal angle, then locate the second intercostal space below it. Note: In males the nipple is in the fourth intercostal space.

4. Indications
- Cough
- Wheezing
- Dyspnea
- Shortness of breath
- Coughing of pus and Blood
- Generalized itching
- Heaviness of the body
- Pain and weakness of the limbs
- Mastitis
5. Needling
Transverse-oblique insertion laterally or medially along the intercostal space 0.5 to 0.8 cun.
Important: Acupuncture should only be performed by a fully qualified practitioner. Never attempt self-needling. All needles I use are sterile, single-use and disposed of immediately after treatment in a clinical sharps container.
