1. Overview
TB 23 — Sī Zhú Kōng (丝竹空) — is an acupuncture point on the Triple Burner (San Jiao) meridian. Its English name, Silk Bamboo Space, reflects the point’s classical character and location. It is used regularly in acupuncture practice for a range of conditions.

2. Location
In the depression at the lateral end of the eyebrow.
3. Actions
- Expels Wind and clears Heat from the head

4. Indications
- Temporal headache and migraine
- Eyebrow pain and supraorbital neuralgia
- Eye disorders — redness, pain and twitching
- Facial paralysis
- Epilepsy
5. Needling
Transverse insertion 0.5–1.0 cun directed towards the temple. No moxibustion.
Important: Acupuncture should only be performed by a fully qualified practitioner. All needles I use are sterile, single-use and disposed of in a clinical sharps container immediately after treatment.
6. Clinical notes
TB 23 is the terminal point of the Triple Burner meridian. Its location at the lateral end of the eyebrow makes it a key point for temporal headache and migraine along the Gallbladder and Triple Burner channel distribution. Combined with GB 8, Taiyang, TB 5 and LV 3 it forms the primary prescription for unilateral temporal migraine.
