1. Overview

Jiā Chéng Jiāng (夹承浆) is a classical extra (non-channel) acupuncture pointLateral to Chengjiang. It is used in acupuncture practice as part of channel-balancing prescriptions for a range of conditions.

I am Dr (TCM) Attilio D’Alberto, a member of the British Acupuncture Council with over 25 years of clinical experience. I use Jiā Chéng Jiāng as part of individually tailored acupuncture prescriptions at my clinic in Wokingham, Berkshire.

2. Location

1 cun lateral to CV-24 Chengjiang, over the mental foramen.

3. Actions

  1. TRigeminal neuralgia
  2. Facial paralysis
  3. Facial pain
  4. Toothache
  5. Facial spasm
  6. Deviation of the mouth and eyes
  7. Swelling of the gums
  8. Jaundice

5. Needling

Straight insertion, 0.2 to 0.5 cun. Sensation: local distention and soreness.

Important: Acupuncture should only be performed by a fully qualified practitioner. Never attempt self-needling. All needles I use are sterile, single-use and disposed of immediately after treatment in a clinical sharps container.

6. Clinical notes

Jiā Chéng Jiāng (Lateral to Chengjiang) is used as part of channel-balancing prescriptions tailored to the patient’s individual TCM diagnosis.
