1. Overview
ST 39 — Xià Jù Xū (下巨虚) — is an acupuncture point on the Stomach meridian. Its English name, Lower Great Void, reflects the point’s classical character and location. It is used in acupuncture practice as part of channel-balancing prescriptions for a range of conditions.

2. Location
9 cun below ST-35 Dubi and one finger breadth from the anterior border of the tibia.

4. Indications
- Lower abdominal pain

- Abdominal pain with diarrhea
- All generalized aches and pains
5. Needling
Puncture perpendicularly 0.5 to 1 cun.
Important: Acupuncture should only be performed by a fully qualified practitioner. Never attempt self-needling. All needles I use are sterile, single-use and disposed of immediately after treatment in a clinical sharps container.

ST 39 Xià Jù Xū (Lower Great Void) is classified as: Lower He-Sea point of the Small Intestine; Point of the Sea of Blood; He-Sea point of the Lower Jiao. These classifications inform how the point is used in clinical practice. The point is typically combined with other channel points to form a balanced prescription based on the patient’s individual TCM diagnosis.
